Results Day

 18th August

I've made it no secret that I found GCSE exams less stressful than I thought I would. I pesonally thought I did alright in every paper that I did. But that doesn't change how I'm feeling in the build up to results day.

Luckily for me, I know I'm almost guaranteed to be able to stay at my school's 6th form and be able to do the A-Levels that I want to do. But, even though I'm confident of doing really well compared to average nationwide results, I'd still be a little upset if I don't get what I want in every subject.

I'm still proud of what I've acheived though. I would never have dreamt of having multiple A* potential two years ago. Working hard for a good year and a half, starting to revise early (and a good memory) helped me out massively.

Now with the big day coming closer, it's all I can really think about. I've dreamt about different scenarios, I've watched countless 'live results reaction' videos on YouTube, looked up results day hashtags... I don't even want to know how I'm going to feel on Thursday.

20th August

So I got my results:

Biology- A*
Chemistry- A*
English Language- A
English Literature- A
German- A*
History- A*
Latin- A
Maths- A*
PE- A*
Physics- A
RE- A* (taken last year)

So in total- 7A* and 4As. I'm pretty chuffed with that but it didn't quite match my personal targets. I was only expecting to get an A in Biology and Physics so I wanted an A* in everything else so to undercheive in English and Latin was a bit disappointing.

But in the long run, I easily got into my school's sixth form while setting myself up well for UCAS points for my future university applications. The positive vibes I got from seeing my friends' results was also great to see.

It's nice to see that some people's hard work has paid off and they're really enjoying the benefits now (including all the money some people are gonna get!). There are even people I don't even know on my timeline who I'm happy for!

To those who didn't get what they wanted which would've allowed them to do what they wanted to do, remember this: Your GCSE results don't completely define what you do.

Don't get me wrong, they influence your 16+ education options and university applications which determine a lot about your future but beyond that, they'll hardly be looked at when you're applying for a job. You can still work with what you've got and make the best out of a seemingly bad situation.

Oh and don't let any good results get to your head for too long cause I'm sure pretty much everyone agrees A-levels will be so much tougher. Don't take the more relaxed nature of college/sixth form for granted cause the workload isn't easy and it's down to you to put the work in.

But hey, enjoy the rest of the summer before thinking of any of that.

Congratulations (and commiserations I guess) to everyone today and good luck in the future with whatever you do!
